Hi,
during the last couple of days, I’ve started to configure my own Linux server in the internet. It is based on an V-Server from www.strato.com (V40, 8 vCPU Core, 32GB memory, 800 GB disk space) with Ubuntu Linux 18.x administered via Plesk Web Edition.
Up to now, I’ve installed/configured:
- WordPress CMS with Elementor Pro website builder hosting my new domain www.dirschedl.tech,
- Email server with web client interface for my xyz@dirschedl.tech addresses,
- Nextcloud productivity platform as native Linux install,
- Plex Media Server as docker container.
The web design is based on an excellent Elementor tutorial from LivingWithPixels on YouTube
All communication is encrypted via SSL certificates from Strato and Let’s Encrypt. Each day the server is fully backup-ed by Strato.
Not every step on this journey was smooth. Sometimes it required intensive google-ing to complete the installation and configuration of the individual items.
And there are so many things to do and try. Stay tuned.
